用英语读 7、8、9 是 seven eight nine，听起来就像是 seven ate nine！

在没有支撑的情况下，日常见到的自行车都不能静止立住，这是为什么嘞？

没错，就是 tire。

tire 表示“轮胎”（名词）或“装上轮胎”（动词），tired 表示“装有轮胎的”，它与数字 two 与组成合成形容词 two-tired，表示“有两个轮子的”。

tired 还可以表示“疲劳的；累的”。

而且，two 和 too 同音，two-tired （两轮的）听起来就是  too tired（太累了）。

原来自行车是“累”得站不起来了呀！

原来 three-pointer 就是篮球里的“三分球”哦。point 的一个释义是“得分”，例如 win/lose a point，赢/输一分。

但这和三角形有什么关系呢？

来看 point 的另一个释义：the sharp thin end of sth，表示“尖端”。例如，铅笔尖就是 the point of a pencil。

你看这个三角形，是不是正好有三个尖儿，即 three points 呢？

说到三分球，1993 年，正是最后一个三分球让芝加哥公牛队赢得了 NBA 三连冠。在纪录片《最后的舞动》里，这一幕的原话是 A three-point shot by John Paxson, the game winner. 约翰·帕克森投进了三分球，一球定胜负。

除了 three-pointer，还可以用 a three-point shot 来指三分球哦！

second 作名词时意思是“秒”，所以大多数人会以为问题是“一年有多少秒”，然后开始计算 1 年有 365 天，1 天有 24 小时......

费了一番计算，365*24*60*60=31536000 秒。

但是换个思路，不用计算器就可以秒算出来。

答案是Twelve —— January 2nd, February 2nd, March 2nd, …

因为 second 还表示序数词“第二”，在日期里表示每个月的“二号”。把问题变成“一年有几个二号？”那可就简单多啦！这个脑筋急转弯，你跟上了吗？
