Another year of record-breaking examination results

The results are out for the IGCSE, IB and A Level examinations, and our Wellington College China pupils have once again achieved record-breaking results.

Outstanding IGCSE results

It has been an exceptional year for Senior School pupils at our campuses in Tianjin, Shanghai and Hangzhou. 50% achieved A* (8/9) grades in their IGCSE exams. Additionally, 80% of them earned A*/A (7,8,9) grades. This gives us the utmost confidence that they are primed for success when they begin the new academic year.

Record-breaking 

A Level achievements

At Wellington College International Tianjin, our Sixth Formers reached new heights with their A Level examinations. Our Class of 2021 achieved an extraordinary 50% of grades at A*, the highest grade possible. Making this all the more impressive was the fact that all examinations were cancelled in the UK and only international candidates were required to sit in-person exams. Our pupils therefore performed superbly as they exhibited resilience in the face of a unique challenge.

A top IB score of 45

Our year 13 pupils at Wellington College International Shanghai earned an average score of 38.1 in their IB examinations. This is well above the global average of 33.02. Moreover, a full 40% of them achieved a score of 40+. 1/3 of pupils also earned a bilingual diploma. Our top score was a 45 out of 45, a feat only achieved by 1.5% of all candidates globally. We are incredibly proud of this spectacular accomplishment.

Onward and upward to 

the world's top universities

After years of hard work and dedication, our 2021 leavers are ready to pursue studies in a diverse range of disciplines at some of the world's top universities. This year, Wellington College China sees pupils continuing their academic careers at such prestigious institutions as Oxford, Cambridge, University College London, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Chicago, Peking University and the National University of Singapore.
