进入21世纪以来，一批具有先锋性的青年艺术家创作出回应当下的艺术作品，体现着青年艺术群体的独特视角和思考。他们受到“江南”的启发或是借用了“江南”的元素，在形式、媒介、主题和视觉感受上产生着某种“变异”。这些作品的共性则是直接或间接地透着“江南”的身影和气息——正如民歌《茉莉花》的演化般，从“江南”这一概念中整体或局部地汲取养分并生长，以另一种方式进行谱写、结合或者改编，继而演奏出别样的腔调——体现了新世纪来江南地区艺术发展的更多可能性。

本次展览邀请来自全国各地优秀的青年艺术家，有的成长或生活在江南一带，有的曾于此地旅居，有的受到“江南”文化的启迪，有的在创作上融合了“江南”的艺术因子，有的试图拓宽或者重构“江南”概念......他们自然而然、水到渠成、不知不觉或是刻意为之地通过各媒材的作品——油画、水墨、雕塑、影像、多媒体装置等——在被称为“江南水乡”的宜兴共同奏响一首体现艺术创作在新千年传承、延续、发扬、实验和突破的新意曲目。

Since entering the 21st century, a group of avant-garde young artists have created corresponding art works, which reflects the unique perspective and thinking of young art groups. Inspired by "Jiangnan" or borrowed the elements of "Jiangnan", they have some "variation" in form, media, theme and visual feeling. The commonness of these works is that they directly or indirectly reflect the figure and flavor of "Jiangnan" - just like the evolution of the folk song "Jasmine", they absorb nutrients and grow from the concept of "Jiangnan" as a whole or locally, compose, combine or adapt in another way, and then play a different tone - reflecting more possibilities for the development of art in Jiangnan in the new century.

This exhibition invites outstanding young artists from all over the country. Some grow up or live in Jiangnan, some have lived here, some are inspired by the "Jiangnan" culture, some integrate the artistic factors of "Jiangnan" in their creation, and some try to broaden or reconstruct the concept of "Jiangnan" They naturally, naturally, unknowingly or deliberately play a new repertoire that reflects the inheritance, continuation, development, experiment and breakthrough of artistic creation in the new millennium in Yixing, known as the "water town of the south of the Yangtze River", through the works of various media - oil painting, ink painting, sculpture, image, multimedia devices, etc.
