I would've failed her job market paper for a senior undergrad metrics class. No consideration of selection. Specification was terrible. Couldn't interpret her own coefficients. Sociologists start with ideology and select facts to reach their conclusions, so it doesn't matter too much if their models are misspecified, since they hold no particular weight in their conclusions.
