Chery builds JV with China’s ICT leader ZTE for 5G application

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chery Automobile on August 17 forged a strategic partnership with Chinese telecommunications and information technology provider ZTE Corporation (ZTE) to jointly develop auto-related application of 5G technology, according to a press release from ZTE.
The collaboration will make both parties co-research 5G-based application scenarios such as IoV (Internet of Vehicles), smart manufacturing and intelligent industrial park. Besides, they are going make joint efforts to build 5G networks and draw up standards about 5G technologies with the aim of speeding up the R&D of 5G innovative applications and the commercialization.
A joint venture dubbed Anhui Qiying Smart Technology Co. Ltd. between one of ZTE's subsidiaries and Chery New Energy was unveiled at the same time.

According to the latest agreement, the telecommunication-equipment provider and the Wuhu-based automaker will be committed to integrating such technologies as 5G, C-V2X, cloud computing, edge computing with applications of intelligent driving, smart manufacturing and AR/VR. Meanwhile, the partnership will be involved in a wide range of links related to ICV (intelligent-connected vehicle) including R&D, production, testing, operation, service and management.
To proactively respond to the China's call on the development of the new-generation artificial intelligence, two companies are going research the application of 5G & MEC (Multi-Access Edge Computing) technologies in fields like intelligent factory management, smart warehousing, and smart logistics.
