This means that Ontime's own Robotaxi fleet will officially begin commercial operations, marking a new milestone in accelerating the commercialization of autonomous driving technologies.
The permit is issued by the regulatory authority according to the relevant policy documents for intelligent connected vehicles (autonomous driving) application demonstration operations in Guangzhou. The permit granted Ontime's Robotaxi fleet permission to provide online ride-hailing Robotaxi services to users in Nansha District, Guangzhou.
According to publicly available information, Guangzhou has only approved three intelligent connected vehicle demonstration operation permits to date.
The to-be-launched Ontime Robotaxi fleet will be composed of brand new Robotaxi model, the GAC AION LX Plus, which was jointly developed by Ontime and its strategic partner.
As a smart mobility platform under GAC Group, Ontime is committed to promoting the commercialization of autonomous driving technologies. As early as October 2022, Ontime and its strategic partner became the first to begin mixed operation of human-driven vehicles and Robotaxis in Nansha District, Guangzhou, offering paid Robotaxi services to registered users on the platform.
