4 Easy Steps to Change Your WeChat Privacy Settings

Let’s be honest: not everyone in your WeChat contacts list is a friend.

So if the thought of semi-strangers scrolling through your super old WeChat Moments creeps you out, it’s probably time you changed your privacy settings. In the past, WeChat users looking to draw their digital curtains faced a tough choice: make their Moments viewable for up to three days, six months or all the time.

On May 5, WeChat addressed this function by launching a new Android and iOS version (7.0.4), which offers users the new option of making their Moments viewable for up to one month.

According to GDToday, over 300 million WeChat users set their Moments to be viewable for up to three days when that privacy feature was released two years ago. But with the new one-month privacy setting now available, users may opt to show a little more of their life on the cloud.

Below we’ve laid out four super easy steps to change your privacy settings on WeChat:

1. Open WeChat and click on settings

2. Once in settings, click on the privacy tab

3. In the privacy tab, under the Moments and Time Capsule section click on ‘Viewable by Friends’

4. Select how much of your Moments you want the world (or your WeChat friends) to see

And that’s it. Now you can give your friends a glimpse, a taste, a piece or the whole pie of your life.
